THE LITTLE MERMAID Hollywood Premiere Red Carpet Rundown

We gave stars Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy their own spotlight posts, but the rest of the cast of The Little Mermaid, along with some fans and supporters, came out to the premiere to serve looks too.

Anika Noni Rose in Mariane Bechara

It’s a simple, straightforward sort of glam, but the bust is way too tight. The hair is gorgeous but we’d have loved a pendant.

Awkwafina in Simone Rocha

The dress and bag are Disney-appropriate, but the footwear situation ruins the whole look.

Chloe Bailey in Gert-Johan Coetzee

There to support her sis and also grab a little spotlight time in a look that cannot be ignored. It’s a lot – too much, even – but that’s pretty much the Bailey brand. We don’t think it’s possible to design a dress like this without leaving the boobs looking a little squished.

Daveed Diggs in Amiri

It’s a fun idea, but we just don’t love the execution or the colors. The grooming is fabulous, though.

Heidi Klum in Jasmin Erbaş Couture

Say what you will about her, but there are times when Heidi’s love of tacky fantasy couture serves her well. This was the time and place for a gown like this, even if it is a lot for someone else’s premiere.

Jacob Tremblay

It’s giving junior Chalamet. We think he could stand to loosen up a little. This is all far too generic for a kid.

Javier Bardem

Appropriate. A small effort was made.

Jonah Hauer-King in Dior Homme

It’s interesting to see how hard he swerved away from Disney Prince branding or style. It’s a fine look, but it’s a little stark for a Disney premiere.

Kelly Rowland in Prabal Gurung

It’s not a bad gown, but the color story is really harsh.

Marsai Martin in Giambattista Valli Couture

Gorgeous. That brown looks amazing on her.

Noma Dumezweni

It’s a striking and almost regal sort of look, which suits the occasion. The jewelry is great, but we’re not sure it goes with the dress.

Simone Ashley in Versace

This gal has such a love of super-tacky fashion. Say what you will, but she’s impossible to miss.

Tamera Mowry-Housley in Marchesa

Like Halle Bailey’s gown, this is a bit themey and costumey, but it really is a gorgeous gown and she got a ton of press out of it.
