We wouldn’t admit this in mixed company, but just between us: we’re near to giddy over the prospect of a big Disney-fueled Marvel movie campaign to really kick off the summer red carpet season we’re so hungry for after too long in the desert. Even better, it’s a Marvel movie stocked to the rafters with female movie stars. And Florence Pugh has opted to lead the charge by hitting the promo trail first. What’s interesting about this look is that it’s a complete reversal on our usual complaint of “You had us until we got to the shoes.”

We were only so-so on the look (although we don’t think the couch pose is doing the dress any favors) until we got to the hellaciously fierce footwear. Scrolling through the pics on Instagram, we can see that the dress is cute enough when it’s posed right, but we’re not in love with the printed check. Her makeup looks great and the boots are the perfect bit of strong punctuation that makes the whole look. Of course they’re not practical for everyday wear, but if your job is just to look great while doing press and not leaving the house, why not go for the fun but impractical boot?
